Pamela Anderson loses the battle of the bust

January 29th, 2006

(AP) Ernie Fletcher, Governor of Kentucky, has rejected a plea by former Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson to remove the bust of the late KFC founder Colonel Harland Sanders from the state Capitol.

Pamela, who had made the plea on behalf of animal rights organization PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), had been protesting against the fast food empire for alleged animal cruelty.

Fletcher, in a letter to the actress, stated that the state had no intention to remove the bust of the Colonel Sanders.

We have no plans to remove or change anything about the display. Colonel Sanders remains a Kentucky icon. His success story has been an inspiration to many. The industry he began has employed hundreds of thousands of workers over the years. His business and his legacy have been good for Kentucky, E! online quoted him, as writing in the letter.

In a statement issued earlier by PETA, Anderson had said that the bust was a monument to cruelty and has no place in the Kentucky State Capitol.

Pamela protests KFC ‘cruel’ breast fixation in Vietnam

January 11th, 2006

Pammy Anderson wants the world to know that she’s opposed to unnaturally large breasts - on chickens.

Pammy this week sent a letter to the chief of operations for the fast-food chain KFC complaining about the farming and slaughtering practices of the company’s suppliers in Vietnam, according to a press release from People for the Ethical Treatment for Animals.

Pammy protested the mechanized slaughtering process - which she said makes chickens suffer needlessly through electric shock and scalding water - but also farms’ selective breeding for birds that have the large breasts consumers love.

‘Chickens who are raised for KFC are bred and drugged to grow so large so quickly that many become crippled under their own weight,’ Pamela wrote to Pornchai Thratum, head of the 17 KFC outlets in Vietnam.
She says that over-sized chicken breasts are no laughing matter - often, the top-heavy chickens’ legs break under the strain and they are left to suffer and die crammed in small pens with thousands of birds.

Hollywood Rag writes:
“I recall watching an interview years back and Pamela strongly disputed ever getting any work done to her lips, but it’s obvious that her chest isn’t the only paid for accessory. “

Pammy wants later time slot

December 30th, 2005

Pammy is urging bosses of her new TV show Stacked to move the sitcom to a later time - because she doesn’t believe she should be on screens until youngsters are in bed.

She says: “I should not ever be on TV before 8 o’clock - 9.30 (is a better time for) Stacked. I think we’re gonna move it to 9.30.

“It’s on at 8.30, (which) is more of a family timeslot, so we’re gonna move it in March.”

Pammy sends videos to KFC stores

The following from PETA:

Four Sioux City KFC managers received a special delivery from Pamela Anderson this week. On behalf of PETA, the actor and animal rights advocate sent them her new explicit DVD showing what happens to chickens before they end up in batter, along with a letter asking them to urge David Novak—the CEO of KFC’s parent company, Yum! Brands—to eliminate the worst abuses of chickens, such as live scalding in defeathering tanks and breeding and drugging chickens to grow so quickly that they become crippled under their own weight.

Writes Anderson, “As a KFC manager, you can help make positive changes … by letting Yum! CEO David Novak know that you don’t want to sell—and the people of Sioux City don’t want to buy—chickens who have been crippled, abused, and scalded alive.”

Anderson points out that KFC ignored recommendations for animal welfare improvements made by its own advisory panel, including five members who have since resigned after being ignored for years. Former KFC advisor Adele Douglass told the Chicago Tribune that KFC “never had any meetings. They never asked any advice, and then they touted to the press that they had this animal-welfare advisory committee. I felt like I was being used.”

Pamela Anderson Makes Room For Christmas

December 30th, 2005

Pamela Anderson insists her sons Brandon and Dylan “make way for Santa” every year by giving away their toys after America’s Thanksgiving holiday.

The actress admits her kids get a kick out of being generous with their old playthings because they like the idea of others getting the chance to enjoy them.

She explains, “After Thanksgiving, we round up all the toys, clothing and anything else the kids have outgrown, and we give it to shelters.
“The boys love doing this knowing other kids will enjoy what they’ve given, and they know they are making room for Santa.”
